As September is tapping on our shoulders telling us it's time to get some routine back, I am really looking forward to returning to the Studio refreshed, Vitamin D levels topped up and with some fun, new sessions on the timetables. This Autumn term, we have more variety on the timetables, high intensity, low impact as well as body awareness elements to the sessions. I'm including some cardiovascular fitness sessions to keep us strong and moving with energy. As always, along with variety will come different levels. Through this, I will be ensuring ALL abilities are catered for. Modifications within sessions are always going to be available. Summer Term MOVE.Studio Re-opening! I can't tell you how wonderful it is to deliver the news that as of the 7th June 2021 I will be back in the Studio delivering face-to-face sessions for you all. Alongside this news, we also have some additions to the MOVE Studio timetable as well as welcoming Sarah Miller into the Studio alongside me. As our Online Members will know, Sarah Miller has been teaching the Classical Pilates sessions during the last term after qualifying last year. For those of you who don't know her, here's a brief biography of her qualifications and skills set, a very welcome addition to the MOVE team. Sarah has 10 years experience in soft tissue therapy and remedial massage. Alongside this, she also has 18 years in nursing experience which included specialising in intensive care, cardiac care and in the last few years of her career, general practice. Sarah says "I am excited to be part of the pilates teaching team at MOVE.Studio. I have known and practiced with Sarah for a long time and we hold the same values around physical therapy. Have a wonderful Christmas break. Well, what a year of changes and pivoting it's been here! Back in March I really didn't expect to have spent so much time getting used to so much technology and to be seeing you all via zoom but it has worked! It's kept us connected, it's kept us moving and it's been the way in which we have had to come together for the much of 2020. I invested in equipment I hadn't expected to be purchasing as well as learning all about Facebook lives and getting the classes to as many of you as possible. The answer is resounding YES! I've been enjoying bringing you November's self-care challenge through my Facebook page and we are only halfway through the month. I hope you've been gaining some insights into new habits that you can take away from it. As I type my local school has just closed its doors so that brings about its own challenges!! It's increasingly important to ensure we give ourselves time to nurture from the inside out, take that extra 20 minutes to do a breathing exercise to ensure you can be more grounded and able to deal with all that the day brings. Sunday habits to prepare you for the week ahead If you are anything like me you will spend most of Sunday worrying about all the things you need to do in the week ahead rather than relaxing and enjoying your Sunday. Sunday is the perfect day to schedule and reset.  With that in mind, here are a few Sunday habits to help you prep for a new week with less stress. Write a to-do list for the week Think about what you have to do next week. Don’t worry about prioritising, just write. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with everything you need to do, this will give you a clear vision and prepare you for what’s to come. After you do that, you can start prioritising. Write down a schedule After you write your to-do list, write down your schedule, appointments, meetings and other things. This will make you feel more prepared to handle what’s to come. And aside from scheduling things you “have” to do, don’t forget to make room for fun things or even self-care activities, as well. Give meal prep a go Do you ever get home from a long day at work and struggle to decide what you’re making for dinner? Or maybe you actually decided but soon realised there’s a key ingredient missing.  Meal prepping will save you a lot of time and stress. Whether that is simply thinking about the meals you’re having in the upcoming week, or taking a step further and actually preparing things in advance. Today is #StressAwarenessDay, the aim of which is to identify and reduce stress factors in your life. With the 2nd National lockdown starting tomorrow, most of us will be feeling high levels of stress and it can be damaging to our health. We all have stress in our lives, some stress is good for us, it helps us to respond to changes in life.   However, too much stress can cause harm to our health and relationships. Once we identify the cause of stress in our lives, we can begin to eliminate or reduce stress. Exercise helps us to let go of built-up anxiety. Eating a balanced diet fuels our bodies so we’re able to better cope with the stress. We need to take care of our physical, mental and emotional well-being. The most crucial thing you can do when you are stressed or anxious is to make sure you are continuing to look after yourself.  Make time to relax, you need to learn to say no to requests that are too much for you. Why not use this time during lockdown to turn actions into habits, I encourage you to carry out one action a day, for your physical, mental and emotional well-being. It takes 30 days to turn actions into habits.  Set yourself a challenge to look after yourself.  We all need to think more about self-care.  Take time out of your day to relax or do something that you enjoy.   Today, I will take time out and relax in the bath. Beginners Classes are back in the Studio! I'm so pleased to announce that we are now able to offer a selection of Beginners sessions in the Studio once more!
